Default Battery problems

Five year old battery died and i had it replaced, now the new one keeps going dead after a few days. I have taken it to the dealer and was told to put the new one on a long charge. this i did and no change, was told they checked the system and found nothing wrong.Any ideas? Thanks for your time hope you can help.

There can only be three possible reasons why the battery keeps draining:

1. Parasitic drain from an electrical accessory (usually ICE system, aftermarket security system).
2. Alternator not maintaining battery charge.
3. Battery faulty and not holding charge (unusual for a new battery).

Had a MB that the power seat module shorted. Worked fine but was always actually cycling back and forth. Movement too small to notice but would drain a new battery overnight. Bear to track down...

Also, if you are using a stock/Shaker sound system, make sure you TURN IT OFF before turning off the key. That will help.

Sometimes you just get ahold of a weak battery, even if new. Had that happen a couple years ago, same symptoms like you're having now. Sometimes it would sit for a few days and start right up. Other times it wouldn't hold a charge for a couple of hours. Replaced it with another, and no further issues. ..but I still make sure the sound system is off before turning the key off..
