Default How to race an auto / stock hurry please

I've raced quiet a few cars over the years from 10's to 14's.
Currently running 12's in a big diesel truck and 11's in a week or so.
The wifes car is an 05 GT convertible that she's going to race this weekend.

How do you guys launch the auto's. Power braked? and what RPM?
How much time is gained by the extra stress if it matters much?

OD off I would guess?

It's a convertible automatic 100% stock.
Is 14.1-14.3 a good target?
I'm not driving.

The way they race here she would be 14's if so and that would be great if she can consistently run 14.1. You loose if your high 14's or if you break out.
Were in Panama.

Oh yeah should we expect to break anything? Any weak links at stock level.
I think we'll probably put gears in it and stop there.
Were planning a different streetable drag car for the little one next.

Any pointers?

Does the OD button on the column change shift points or line pressure or simply OD off?

Looks like lights won't be set up until Friday so we bought some time.

A stock 2005 GT convertible 1/4 mile time is rated to run 13.8s. I don't think you should have a problem. Of course, you have to consider temperature/conditions. I would personally leave overdrive on and floor the b!cth. I wouldn't even worry about launching if you're shooting for low 14's. If you're worried, try cutting some weight such as spare tire, leave the gas tank 1/4 full, have your wife drive naked... etc.

Also about how much HP is 1/10th sec.

That always seemed to make a car look faster through my radar ..... and I always shaved what it added off the top ..... and took time to say "Thank You" ....
.... what it does for the quarter is anyone's guess ....

For 1/4 mile - always turn OD off and TC off. Power brake to about 1800-2000rpm if the brakes will hold it.

100 lbs weight loss is roughly equivalent to .1 second

Thanks I'll mess with that tonight after unboxing my trucks twin turbos.

Speedo's stepper motor is bad so I have to gps guess 1/4 mile.

OD off and tcs off. If you leave the car in overdrive it will shift causing you a slower time. Always leave OD off no matter what
