Default Hard Shift/Clunk

08 GT 200,000 miles, automatic tranny. Came off the highway after 60 miles. Taking off from a stop light, felt like it was in neutral and then there was a hard shift/loud clunking sound. Happened twice. Was fine after that. I have had the tranny and rear end both serviced by Ford at 100,000. This has never happened before or since. ???

Mine did that a few times before I had to replace the tranny. It didn't go away for me though, just kept happening more and more frequently, then I found water in the tranny pan and the fluid looked like a strawberry milkshake. The water thing was a fluke on mine though, it was getting in through the JDM catch can I installed. Regardless, the slip is solenoid pack or clutches or bands going/gone bad.

Do you think your problem may have been caused by the water?

Yeah, no doubt the water caused something to burn up in it. I got a TCI Superstreetfighter for a replacement. Original bad tranny is still sitting in my basement. Might attempt a rebuild on it someday.

could be a valve body? im not too sure, but since thats the flow of tranny fluid maybe a check ball blew out or something and you lost pressure? ive seen this at work where reverse was hard to engage and would bang in gear, which is why i brought this up
