Brake Help
Hey guys,
I need a pad that can handle autocross/track but is still okay on the street. Ive been leaning towards the EBC but I would like to hear from anyone who have used them before. Any experiences? Thanks!

I used EBC yellows on stock solid rotors. I did not like them at all as a track pad. OK on the street. Really poor initial bite. Did NOT give me confidence when hitting the brakes at the end of a fast straight. I prefer Hawk products. HP-S pads for street, auto-cross and mild track days. They are metallic so they will dirty up the wheels pretty quickly but they will stop the car with authority stop after stop.
If you are an experienced track driver and heavy on the brakes, the HP-S will tend to overheat/fade and wear out pretty quickly. Hawk R compound should be a good compromise street/track pad. Any more aggressive and you are into full race pads like Hawk Blues or DTC-70's. BTW, stay away from drilled rotors for hard track day stuff with race pads, they will crack thru the holes. Stick to slotted, not drilled.

HPS will get you through a careful, cautiously driven introductory track day, but don't ask them to do any more than that. They are decidedly NOT track pads . . .
If you want good bite, very good fade resistance, and minimal rotor wear for track use . . . in a word - Carbotechs.
DTMR - If you're at all familiar with NJMP, XP10's are enough pad to support running 20+ minute sessions of consecutive 1:21-ish laps on Lightning and upper 1:30's on Thunderbolt. Think intermediate and advanced run groups respectively. And they're certainly streetable enough to drive to and from the track on (or even daily as long as you can cope with some dust and a little noise from time to time and remain consciously aware that their cold bite won't be as strong as when they've got a little heat in them).
