intercooler
my 4.6 with the vortec supercharger runs really strong when I first start out with it and it's cool, but if I drive it 20 miles, it seems to loose about 50 hp, I'm dyno'd at 455rwhp, 11 psi boost,419 ft lbs torque, I put water /meth injection on it in hopes of cooling it down, but don't seem to do much . running washer fluid with 4 yellow bottles of heat per 1 1/2 gallons, had it tuned for this thinking about intercooler but looking at around $1000.00 installed and tuned, is it worth it?THINKING MAYBE GAIN .2 in a quarter if that. any opinions are greatly appreciated

Sounds like you definitely need that intercooler. It's definitely worth the money spent as it'll add more power (cooler intake air and more timing advance) and reduce the risk of engine detonation. Should be able to get it done for a lot less than $1000 though.

intercooler
been looking on line, bolt on kits, run about $595.00 plus shipping, then they say you can loose up to 2 lbs boost because of the air restriction, so they recommend a smaller supercharger pulley, that's $90.00, then after it's in , another dyno tune, $300.00, so it gets right up there, and I wonder if I'm getting enough bang for my bucks that way

Each 11*F reduction in intake charge temp. produces a 1% HP/TQ gain, and the cooler air makes the engine less prone to detonation. An intercooler could reduce the intake charge temp. by up to 60*F (possibly more) so that'll be a 6% gain in HP (i.e. almost 30hp) just from the cooler air alone. The ECU will also be able to add more timing advance which adds further HP, so the benefits are undoubtedly worth the outlay.

well I installed the 3 inch intercooler and what a pain that was. I would strongly recommend going with a 2 1/2 inch next time, really tight clearance problems. it went in, but took a lot of tweaking. taking it to the shop to get it set up and dyno tuned, i'll let you know the results

dyno'd it today, they had to change to a smaller pully. first pull, 501 rwhp, he said oops, to high for stock bottom end, so he de tuned it to 470 rwhp 422 lbs torque, seems to pull a wole lot stronger when it/s hot now
