It's a driver's car. You gotta learn the launch technique. Most likely 2500 clutch drop at 15-16 psi on the tires. If you bog, up the RPM. If you spin lower the RPM. 108 mph is good for middle 12s easy.

with that 2500 clutch drop, are we talking slicks or drag radials?, I'm running 26/10/15 mickey thompson slicks

I'm getting that with 145rwhp less.
The OP should be getting mid 11's with the amount of power that he has and he's falling well short 'cause of a lack of traction. LCAs with relocation brackets will definitely help. If the car is lowered, he'll also need an adjustable Panhard bar to center the rear axle and an adjustable UCA to reset the pinion angle.

is there an advantage of stiff wall slicks over wrinkle wall, or visa/versa?

Yes. Stiffer side walls are made for heavier cars like ours. So in general, a stiffer sidewall is recommended. If you have a regular slick and put tubes in they stiffen up a little bit. Most guys that successfully get into the 1.4 60' or less use the stiff sidewalls. Unless they have pulled 400+ our off their car.

Go to Mickey Thompson's website and see their recommendations.
