Default Filling Up

08 GT. Ever since brand new, when filling up, the gas will spill out prior to shutting off the nozzle. That's with every different gas station I use. 236,000 miles later, I've come to learn to control the flow, but it will do it if I allow. Defect from day one or normal? My other cars will not overflow.

Mine is the opposite.

With my 2005 I have to fill it real slow or the auto shut off keeps clicking on.

Pain in the butt in the wintertime...

Been like that since day 1.

Try looking at the Ratstang web site. He goes through what could be a fix for the slow fill problem.

I have to turn the handle upside down on my 05' to get it to flow without clicking off.

The problem is the pumps pump fuel faster than the tank can vent. Turning the handle around doesn't really solve this issue. The only fix is to slow the fuel flow is my the tank.

I have an '05 GT and back in the day there were quite a few saying how putting fuel in the '05 was PIA. I read that some had the tank replaced and I reckon there were other "Fixes" to be said.

I automatically put the nozzle in to the filler at a one to two o'clock position for years. I fill at a respectable rate of flow without any problem 99% of the time. Our cars have a "gallons used" in the dash. So, when I get out of the car I check that indicator (which is damned close most of time to what I end up getting) and when I get close to that number then I back off my rate of fill and listen to gas as it comes up the fill tube. Most of the time, no big deal except the rain, the cold, the crappy days!

I've never had a problem with this on my car except at one station. Maybe I'm lucky?

When I got my Ranger it would click off constantly and was impossible to fill. I replaced the charcoal canister and presto, it was fixed.

Mine does it in some pumps and with time it has started doing it less frequently, but when it decides to crap out it really is a pain to fill it up.
