Hey guys!! 1 I just installed the Ford Racing Muffler axelback on my 2006 GT. I was curious if anyone is having a problem with exhaust leak? I torqued the clamps down to the recommended 35 foot lbs. Any help??

Just installed my SLP Loudmouths, sound awesome albeit a little loud. Should have known that since they are straight pipes,DOH! Anyway Will a resonator cut the noise a little without making it sound stock? I want to quiet it some but not much.

I have my cats off on my 05 and it sounds like S#!^ with the flowmasters, it sounds really raspy, the guys at my shop told me the flowmasters tend to be like that because of the way its designed, i think i have that famous flowmaster baffle problem, but anyways i have a friend of mine wanting to sell me some borlas for $300, im thinking the borlas would get rid of the raspiness, does anyone know???

Default 05/06 Miscellaneous Sound Clips!

As you can see below, I am obscessing over this, but want to make the right choice like alot of you. I want a simple Axel Back with original sound, deep, slight louder at idle, minimal drone. Here are a few of the clips I have found. I really would like to find a good FRPP/Borla stinger clip if anyone has run across one. Also Bassani as well. Enjoy!

Stock exhaust vs Flowmaster axel back: http://www.fordmuscle.com/archives/2...lers/index.php

Corsa Axel back: http://www.corsaperf.com/mustang.htm

FRPP Axel back (private Putfile ? quality): http://media.putfile.com/FRPP_MPEG

IMCO Axel back: http://www.grabthepower.com/mustang-promo-front.html

MustangExhaust.com (I seem to have problems pulling this up lately, but they had several good sound clips in past): http://www.mustangexhaust.com/forums/soundclips.php

Again, any help with FRPP or Bassani sound clips would be appreciated!
Rich

Heh

So I am gonna share my findings

My 2006 GT was due a better sound so I decided to shop around for axel backs.

I eventually decided that RPM outlet was a potential source and I took a risk and purchased..............get this the $149 Moto Blue exhaust.

Six days later they turn up. Real nice stainless tips, decent welds on the aluminized boxes and the words Pypes etched on the tip upper face. Well I was starting to feel like this may get intresting.

I am sure these are pypes violater exhaust posing as Moto Blue's but heh what do I know they were just about the cheapest thing I ever saw and I am tight.

So they are now fitted, and it was dead easy and they sound just right. I get a slight drone at approx 3000 rpm and the clamp nut seems to work lose every few hunderde miles but it's fine and fixable at some point. Above all else combined with the $200 S and B intake kit I purchased at the same time I have a noticable performance gain.

Best $350 I ever spent the exhausts are the biggest suprise hidden gems thanks RPM outlet, Pypes and the Mustang fairy.

All that is left now is to find someone in Cleveland Ohio who can fit me 12 inch wide dual racing stripes for less than the cost of the car and I will be a happy man.

Mad for It

Default How I spent my morning - IMCO Axle Backs...

My order finally arrived from ninosports.com – So, I installed my IMCO Performance Exhaust today.
They cost me around $330 including shipping.

So here is how it went.

The system was an Axel Back, so installation was pretty easy.

Here is now they looked out of the box. They came with a new clamp and simple instructions.

.
First – You have to loosen the tie-clamp behind the H pipe… This requires a 15MM Socket and a screwdriver. You have to loosen the slide clamp to disengage the pipe sections by sliding the clamp back onto the exhaust pipes..

.
Note – there is a spring clip on top of each slide clamp, that hooks behind the retainer/alignment pin, which you have to open with a screwdriver in order to slide the clamp onto the exhaust pipes to disengage the pipe sections.

.
I used a Bungee cord to hold the pipes up while I was working on the back half.

.
Use the 15MM socket to open the clamp holding the Factory Muffler onto the tail pipe. The clamp is welded to the muffler; so do not try to actually remove the clamp.

With a little twisting and yanking, the muffler actually comes off pretty easily.

Twist the tail pipes out of the way.

Put the new mufflers up by their hangers… then mate the tailpipe to the muffler and finger tighten the new clamps – you will need a 9/16” socket for these.

Re-aligned the H-Pipe slides and lightly tighten the clamps. Be SURE to make the spring clips hook on the other side of the alignment pin.

Move stuff around until you like how everything looks! Then tighten the mufflers first. Then the H-Pipe slides.

Remember to recheck all your connections and re-tighten everything after 50/75 miles.

I love the sound from these things - - Nearly exactly like the sound of Steve McQueens 68 Stang in the movie Bullet. The idle is a VERY low grumble. The sound at WOT just makes you want to do it MORE!

Because I have an automatic I went with the “Pro Series” because of a “Drone Warning” that IMCO put out about the “Extreme Series”. Those of you with manuals will want the “Extreme Series”. They sound the same, except, the Extreme is a little louder and a slightly higher tone.

There IS a bit of a drone at 1800 to 2100 RPM with mine, but it isn’t all that annoying.

You can hear sound clips at:
