I was looking under my 06 Mustang GT and saw that it already had an H pipe design! Short piece of tubing between the 2 exhaust pipes. Just surprised me is all.
I installed the American Thunder series last May and I absolutely love the sound. Nice and low with no raspiness. I do think that it could be just a tad louder for everyday driving, but WOT it roars! There is some drone, not to bad, around 1800RPM.. But the gurgle when letting off the pedal is awesome.
I was thinking of adding a different H-Pipe or Pro-Chamber with Hi-Flow cats. I realize that a lot of you are running the Off Road pipes, but from what I understand to little back pressure can equate to a loss of TQ? Anyway, I have not seen any Hi-Flow cats that are simple bolt-ons for this car that would cost less than a new mid-pipe with Hi-Flows. Anyone see anything out there?
I think with a little less restriction from the cats would really put the sound where I want it to be.

Has anyone ever heard anything about the new American Thunder Series System #17410 (Axle Back) Mufflers by Flowmaster for the 05-06 GT. If so, are they any good? Any info anyone could provide on this would be greatly appreciated thank you.
I installed the Borla cat-back system on my '06 GT. Perhaps the best case for a cat-back and not a axle-back system is this:
Even though the factory uses 2.5" mandrel bent tubing, just before the mufflers there is a section where there is a major crimp in the tubing that will increase back pressure. Poiselle's law in a nutshell states that if you decrease the diameter of a tube by half you increase resistance 16 times.

I'm going to "pull the trigger" on a Corsa system in the not too distant future. From everything I read, they're one of the very few systems with ZERO drone. If you're curious, Corsa has an awesome web sight with great sound clips for '05/'06 'Stangs. Yes, they are pricey but I really think you get what you pay for. 100% stainless and guaranteed for life. I LOVE the sound. Livernois Performance has the best price ($585).
i have roush axle back and plans 4 mac long tube headers and bassani x pipe with performance cats
sounds great at all speeds but it will get your att. when you open it up

Hi I am new here. I am going to buy a 2006 mustang gt.
I have heard from most people that cat backs are the best exhaust systems out there, Performance wise and sound wise. A lot of people here seem to be looking into axle back why is that?
Well i do not have my car yet. Waiting for it to be built, but i did order myself the Borla S Mufflers this weekend so i will have them when the car arrives new in a few weeks and be able to install them immediately. I am running Borla on my 97 F150 and have been running them since 1988 on my first F150. Great sound and a great prouct.
