Default spark problem help

i just got a 1993 mustang , not much of a ford guy but the price was right and they get good mpg. well it is a 1993 2.3 with the 8 plugs. well i changed the plugs . on start up for about 1 min it runs with out a miss then the miss comes. so i check the firing order it is right. i started pulling wires off the coil. and they where not sparking. so i whend around to all of them sum where sparking sum where not on all 8 then i got done pulling 1 off and puting 1 back on on all 8. then i when back around and did it again and sum where sparking that where not the first time and other that where sparking the first time i check where not now. i did a running engine code check befor i changed the plugs and got a 998 , 224 chacked the code and i did not under stand what the book meant? please help me out

998 - don;t worry unless transmission isn't shifting right.

224 - coil failure

224 means one or both of your coils are failing/failed.

Take them to your local parts store and get them to test both for you.

I would get the coils tested first, if they pass then I would go to a JY and pick up a ICM

The coils you can test yourself with a DMM. As for the ICM, Autozone can test those.
