No, a 351 will make to much power and snap it like a twig. I thought you were talking about the 2.3, but anyways for a V8 thats going to be making power I would adcise you to look at a TKO or a built AOD/C4.

The T5 will hold but if you beat it enough it will break

do you mean a modded 351's power vs a stock 2.3 or 2.3t?

the 351W's power band will snap the 2.3 T5 like a twig. The 2.3T has a "lower" band that the 351 at first but climbs steady

so your saying for example we have a 2.3t with 300hp ant tq and a 351 with the same power that the 351 would destroy a t5 in a drag racing senario because it has more low end torque? i dont know about that. even though it may have a bit more grunt on the low end, in most case's a forced induction engine especialy a turbo charged one will reach its max torque before a n/a engine will. i dont see why i t5 couldnt be used on a 351 unless its something like a 400 hp/400tq 351, but then i wouldnt put that same t5 on a 2.3t with the same power ether.

none of the stock t5s are rated at 300hp except the 93 cobra spec t5 and yes they can hold 300 but not for long.a G FORCE rebuild is said to hold 600ft/lbs of torque and as much hp if not more. the t5 in the 5.0 circles is referred to as the temporary 5. it is the weakest link in the 5.0 drive train and a stock 5.0 doesn't make 300hp and they still don't always last. but for sure they are the best choice out there unless you like a c4 witch can hold a lot of power if built correctly and its supposed to be the cheapest to build, alota drag racers build them
but you would need a pinto bell housing. t5 is your cheapest best most reilable bet. u can get one from the junk yard and beat the crap out of it for a while before you have any problems, then decided if you wanna spend the money on a geforce rebuild which goes to straight cut gears. good luck

I'm just speaking from what I've seen. I've seen lots of 2.3T5s on 5.0's and 351's run just fine, but I've also see them almost explode on a hard launch.

hmm. this is a lot to think about. Once I put in a new engine I wont always drive or dog it. So maybe a new T5 will work? That way I can dog it every now and then and still not worry about my investment blowing up???
