If you're looking to spend 3000 dollars.....

Buy a 5.0 hatch.

Done.

Well you could go that route... Or you could build a pretty substantial 5.0 instead of buying a stock one.

True, true.

But with the original question, it's very difficult to do a 5.0 swap, and most often it's most cost and time effective to buy a 5.0, and work from there.

You can often find solid Fox 5.0's for 2000 or so, and that leaves a nice 1000 to build up the motor, plus whatever you manage to sell your LX for, say... 1000-1500 is normal, so you'd be looking at 2000 for the car, and 2000-2500 for modding the car. That'll easily buy a nice exhaust, headers, and full intake.

it would so much more then a motor... front suspension, cooling, electronics, accesories, transmis sion, brackets, mounts, hoses yada yada yada.. your best option would be to sell yours and purchase a 5.0 If you have to swap for whatever reason try to find a 5.0 that was in a rear end wreck. park them both next to each other and start swapping.. oh also make sure you plan on having the jacks, lifts, pullers and specialty tools to do the swap.

3 grand would build a killer 2.3t motor that would have more than 350hp. How much hp are you looking to get?
