Default need some input

ok so i have a 1985 SVO which is getting quite a bit of mods and i dont think that the 7.5 rearend will hold up. i have a 5 lug 8.8 and was wondering how much modification / fabrication will need to be done. i dont want to pull the 7.5 without the materials i need for the 8.8. will the brakes bolt right up? any brake line fab? and will the tires stick out any further? im pretty sure they will just not sure how much. thanks for any help.

That depends on what the 8.8 came out of. If it came out of a Turbo Coupe I think it's a direct replacement, but if it came out of anything else I'm pretty sure you need to do some modification, not sure what that is though. Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

i just dont know if the brake lines will bolt up to the 8.8. idk why they wouldn't. i was hoping for a simple swap. shocks, brakes, lines and all but i dont think that will happen. is there ayway to make the 7.5 handle 450hp? stronger axels/differential? if so thats what i would rather do.

turbocoupe rear is supposed to be a little wider than yours. I posted link in another post with this info page you might want to look at it too. It has links for rear end upgrades.

Easiest would be to use 8.8 axle from 5.0, better options available, direct bolt in.
