Default 2.3 Hesitates when first accelerating

I have a 2.3 mustang that hesitates or runs rough when you first accelerate. This happens from a dead stop or if car is cruising at low speed and step on it. I have replaced PCV valve and was looking for any other input to problem.

Hi,

Is the CEL on? If so, retrieve the codes and get back to us

If not, when was the last time the basic maintenance was performed, such as plugs, wire ect? Did you try cleaning the MAF? (depending on the year).

Check for vacuum leaks, bad timing, tune up, bad FPR, clogged fuel filter, etc

Question

New plugs, new wires, new Idle Control Valve, new fuel filter, some of the vac lines are new. Installing new EGR, if that does not correct what then?

Hi,

What year is the Mustang? and did you have the vehicle scanned for any CEL codes?

Interesting! I was having the same problem...up until my freaking engine cut off while I was on the interstate. Turns out the timing belt broke, another belt had a crack, the rotar button split, spark plugs were bad....anyways, we replaced all of that Sunday. Now it drives better than ever before! Just get a full tune-up and check all of your belts. It's probably timing.

Cool EGR Solenoid

Thanks to all that replied. After replacing the idle control module and EGR valve things go worse. I took it in to get it checked out and found that the EGR Solenoid was stuck.
