tons of boost but no power
me and my dad are putting together a 2.3 turbo thunderbird we had it running really nice be for winter and yesterday we pulled it out and let it run for a little while and took it for a run got it to push 18lbs of boost and at that amount of boost it should light the tires in every gear but it makes no power it gets to 10lbs and the bov goes off we spent some time retuning it and tried it again and it made some power but not like what it was running we think its a electrical issue but we cant figure it out if you have any idea please comment thankyou

RE: tons of boost but no power
Check timing spout out. Also check timing belt make sure not jumped time.I assume idles good. Had similiar problem but would not take accelation. Bad idle. one injection was bad not working at all. Found it by unplugging each injector the one that made no difference was the one bad. Is bov vent to atmosphere or back into input of turbo? You may some injectors stopped up some fuel injector cleaner may do some good.

yeah but if the blow off vavle is opening up at 10 lbs, which it shouldnt be, could be busted or liek the internals are shot cuz it should be holding, then he wouldnt be making anywhere near as much power as with 18lbs. check that out

tbird232ci on the bov I read makes difference I assume bov after vam on your car that is what i remember seeing on your car. If that is correct I know what I am changing on my car you are the first one i have read that tells me positive for sure. I learn something everyday and I appreciate it. Thanks Maurice.

Maurice, its not 100% positive, you definatly have to re-learn how to drive with it. When it vents, the car will run full rich, and if you boost, then push the clutch in, it blows off and the RPMs drop, it will stall out.
It works, but its not the best way to do it
Does it open under boost, or do you mean itll vent if youre running 10psi?

RE: tons of boost but no power
I guess I better leave it as is. I have a c-4 trans so clutch not a factor but is wifes car she would not have a clue how to deal with it. Right now have volvo bypass in intercooler pipe and vents in pipe after vam have it hooked up to vac souce after throttle place has a restrictor in vac line. Does this sound correct? hooked it best I could figure out from info read and guessed at.As far as I can tell from sound opens when vac goes to it after boostwhen I let off throttle. Have gills valve set for 13 psi. Thanks Agaian for helping me still stumbling along and learning
