Well you see I put in a new distrubter and cap in a 1988 2.3 mustang lx. I noticed when I put the cap on that **** that is onthe cap was on the other side when i placed it back on the distributer. I hooked the wires up the same way(position)they were hooked on the last D. Cap. I was thinking could that be while the car is running a little sluggish. I went to advanced auto parts and unfortunaly they dont have any diagrams or books on the car.
I dont think the car will run at all with them wrong, maybe backwards though?? sleeper will know this question.
Yeah thats what i thought too my friend did it once to his honda civic hooked the wires wrongit blew smoke from the engine and wouldnt start, thats why i dont think this is my problem it runs it just has always been slow.
ok the firing order is 1-3-4-2 the cylinders are numbered from the front to rear 1 through 4 best thing to do is bump the engine until it is top dead center. remove the cap and the button will be pointing at your number one plug wire. from there go clockwise and you have numbered the cap. you can tell if it is at top dead center or TDC by removing the inspection button of the front of the timing belt cover the gears have marks to line up. Good luck
