You get a spring compresser that compresses it from the inside

you can use a spring compressor, or if you don't have one. carefully...CAREFULLY!Do it this way.

1. remove wheel and raise front of car on jackstands.
2. take the stabilizer bar link off the control arm.
3. put a 5 ton hydraulic jack under the lowercontrol arm and jack up (driectly in center)
4. disconnect the ball joint from the spindel
5. (slowly!!!) lower the jack, so the control arm extends downwards. (carefull cause the spring is still there)
6. when the control arm is lowered, slip the spring out.

(i'm not liable if you get hurt tho.) if you take your time, u can do it this way.

The spring in these cars is always compressed even when the lower control arm is all the way down. Just ask the 5.0 guys who do the lowering spring swap. They have issues getting the spring in[&:]

you can disconnect the control arm from the balljoint and it will hang 90 degress down. its just not safe to do it this way.

If don't have spring compressor can remove safely by tying rope around spring and body. That way when it pops out it want go all the way not the best . Reverse same way. Done this on MG's before. Try the autoparts people maybe able to rent or borrow tool.

See if they will fit in there without them being compressed, then slowly jack the lower a-arms up.
