Default Boost

I've heard some stuff about electric superchargers. Some high end models can produce as much a 6 psi of boost. How do these things work? Do they stay at a constant speed? Or, do they somehow increase as speed is increased? Does anybody know anything about what these things can do?

those ebay ones don't work. the high end ones are one of the most efficient forms of forced induction (next to nitrous)
don't expect to get one for under $800 though.

those are exactly what i'm talking about when I say the ones that don't work.

Try here.

they were dyno tested against turbo/sc & were the most efficient type of supercharger, downside is they only come with low psi units. 6-8psi. I believe he finished a 12psi one recently

Yeah those are cool, belt driven so it goes with the speed of the engine.... pretty much like a miniblower huh..... but that price... NOOOOO I could get tons of other stuff with that money and have wayy more power with money left over to spend

um.... belt driven?.... that means not electric.... I meant he makes them.
Here's the link to the ELECTRIC ones
http://www.boosthead.com/product.php?id=18

ESCâ„¢ 400 yields 96.5 hp max gains at 5.5 max psi on a '96 Dodge Avenger V6 (automatic trans., TKT headers, 3" exhaust, 60mm throttle body).

Max power: 136.3 stock, 232.8 under boost.
Max torque: 168.5 stock, 249.6 under boost.

Tested on Sept. 30th and Nov. 7th, '03 at South Florida Performance, Inc. Blower housing was ported to improve airflow on later tests.
Last month we sent an ESCâ„¢ to Street Concepts Magazine to install on a Ranger 2.5L 4-cyl show vehicle. You won't believe what they got from that truck! On a stock engine with headers, 3" exhaust, ECU modifications, and electric supercharger @ 6 psi, they took the Ranger from 122 stock whp to 223 whp! Afterwards, the batteries were able provide additional runs off the dyno. Street Concepts' technicians were absolutely blown away by those numbers, so look for a feature article on the ESCâ„¢ in the August 2004 issue.
look at the hp gain compared to the boost #.... 5.5psi... 6psi...

Guy is really helpful too. He helped me get started on building turbo projects back in like 2001. ^_^

There are some dyno sheets on there too if you browse around a bit.

I wasn't planning on getting one of these things. One of my friends wants to put it on his Sports Trac. I'm looking around for a turbo motor.
