Volvo Head Swap
#21
I read the one on evil bay. 1200 dollars but still needed proper cams and exhaust valves. Which in turn means valvle seats etc done to it. PS everything expensive for Volvo especially custom cams. I have read prices of cams from 200 dollars each to 1000 Ouch. I am fairly familiar with these 2.3 and not something I am interested in. My SHO motor is piece of cake compared to the Volvo work.

the DP heads have a swirl intake port which helps air velocity into the combustion chamber but the benefits are not worth the work, as most of the extra power that the DP 2.3's had was from the roller cam.

As far as Esslinger have read some bad things on turboford on them. I personally if spending that money would have my head port etc by a specialist on them. On comes to mind. As far as the Volvo. When I was thinking about it. I talked to a Volvo man. He lives and breaths them. Use to race 2.0 Ford engines even turbo. He said a Volvo/Ford combination would be a good race engine. But not daily driver all the HP would be in upper end. Now this this going by his opion. But I haven't yet read of anyone using this combination for daily driver. But now a sohc Volvo head is a thought. Available in turbo [means intake and exhaust setup done]. And will fit. Now that is a thought. And flows better than Ford. Many in Europe racing them. Here is some interesting reading. Will take you awhile to read. http://www.turboford.net/cgi-bin/ult...;f=16;t=006868
