Default Advise on a 2.3t Swap

I have a core TC motor that i want to rebuild to basically stock and use in a DD. THe first couple of questions are will a stock 7.5 and A4LD be able to handle a stock 2.3t. If so what are the max limitations for them. I am after all like everyone else and during a rebuild there are always a few "extras" that find there way into a build.

Thanks

if its your daily id imagin the 7.5 will be fine, my last 2.3 was pretty much my daily and i had a 7.5, i had it about a year and didnt have any problems with the rear. i also had a 3" exhaust, stinger style exhaust manifold, and a front mount with increased boost. as for the tranny. i dont know. i dont think you will have to many issues but i dotn really know. i hear many good things about c4's though :-D, look into those.

7.5 fine. Running c-4 excellant use a Ford Motorsport driveshaft. It is the correct length. If still have the 373 gears change them. Go to 327 or higher. Used as a DD with a c-4 bad gas mileage like 180 miles per tank. I know.

What kind of car are you swapping it into? If its another stang, you will need the t-coupe wiring harness. The factory harness on a n/a motor could work with repinning the ecu plug which isnt hard to do, but you will neede the vam harness to wire in and The computer will be required as well. I lost my t-bird when it caught fire and i swapped the motor into the 89 mustang i have now. When i bought the wiring harness from another guy, he didnt include the injector harness that has oil pressure and water temp sensor for the dash as well. This part was hard to find. I bought mine new from a company i cant remember right now.
The factory open 7.5 would be ok, but the four banger has rear 2.73 ratio, so it will be doggy ass slow lol. I rev mine up to 5000rpm all the time and dump it lol! I converted mine to a manual as well. About that aluminum driveshaft, it will not fit if you use the A4LD. Output shafts are different. I highly suggest doing a maual swap. The driveshaft between the AOD(E) and t-5 are identical. Look up manual swaps, its not that costly and theres plenty of info to get it done.
Ill be honest, the A4LD sucks a big one. The ones from the t-coupes are build a little better but they are still very weak. I dont suggest it.
One more thing, WHY JUST STOCK?! The factory motor can take 17psi daily as it is(mine does lol!). Why not make it better? GOOD LUCK! If ya have any questions just message me. I log on about once a week though.

You have some good things, but most are WAY OFF!

The 7.5 will hold till around 300hp, so your good there. The A4LD will not last long if you beat on it. Mine lasted 1000km's before I lost 3rd and 4th (around 90k miles on the transmission)

You'll need to build the A4LD to the 4.0 explorer standard to take the power without failing.

No, it has a different bell housing.

You'll have to swap most of the internals into the 2.3 A4LD.

Search "A4LD transmission rebuild" on google, it should be on explorer forums

couldn't you get the SBF adapter plate from Stinger and hook the explorer A4LD right up?

The 4.0 is a V6, not a SBF bolt pattern...
