i know a guy that works in a tranny shop and he said even if i take it out myself a rebuild would cost me 1100. i didnt even pay that much for the car!! so im hoping i can either get a cheap C4 or a cheap A4LD but im not having much luck on the a4ld

Stick with the A4ld. Will need to upgrade to higher gear ratio rearend to get decent fuel economy. That would make the car a dog without turbo. Now if still want to. I did it but have turbo. Need Pinto bellhousing or Sleeper-inc setup {expensive], c-4, pinto torqueconvertor, wiring is minor for neutral backup lights, differant driveshaft. c-3 or c-4 pinto flexplate.

oh that doesnt sound like a very direct bolt on at all i thought i could just take out the a4ld and put the c4 right in... ill probobly end up having to just drive it until it breaks
