Welcome Yes for awhile. Just ask Sleeper-inc. Near as I know A4LD. Ford made them a little stronger later on. Not sure what year done that. Will need a turbo automatic computer to run the trans. LB-2 and LB-3 and 8UA come to mind. Most swap to t-5 or like me C-4. C-4 need to have a rare bellhousing. Here is link for a way to make it more heavy duty. Good luck with the swap. If need help we are here to help. http://www.explorerforum.com/forums/...d.php?t=146953

Well that A4LD wont hold the power, a TC one will but for only stock.

I ran a stock 88 A4LD for a while before it started slipping because you'll be putting almost double the power through it.

Either swap in a T5 or a C3/C4 (or build the A4LD up)

Mileage - T5 maual

Performance cam - What is the car going to be used for? DD or track only use?

For a DD I would go with a ranger roller cam for track I would go stage 3 bo-port cam

As far as performance I would say c-4, but from what I read hard to determine stall. Because it varies with tune of turb. So that said I would say t-5 and learn to shift quick. Also depends if a drag car. As far as cam I would talk to bopart and take his suggestion of cam. The ranger cam is good but go much past a little bit of strong tune not the best. That is reason recommend bopart. If not going to modify head I would agree with ranger cam. I been told if using a ranger cam for turbo get adjustable cam gear and adjust. If I find what I was told to do with mine if I get one of them I will post.
