TurboCoupe wont start
I bought an 87 turbo coupe a few months ago and it ran and drove fine and it ran out of gas as i parked it. I meant to put gas in it sooner but i ended up having to go to the hospital and then starting college and when I started to get back on my project i put gas in it and it wont start.... I sprayed ether in it and it fires but doesn't stay running, It ran for a bit, randomly, but wont rev high and eventually stalls each time, wont run for more than 30 seconds even if im lucky... I think its one of the fuel pumps, but which one? thanks for your help in advance

As far as I know only fuel pump in tank. Since you say it trys to run. I wouldn't think the inertia switch is not tripped. Do you hear pump run when key is on? Will only run a few seconds. Since you ran out of gas. I would try a fuel filter first. Hopefully you didn't suck up a bunch of junk and stop up the sock on pump in fuel tank or take it out. If filter does not solve time for fuel pressure gauge or drop tank and look at pump.

it sounds like it runs, i can hear it click on and off, but i cant remember how loud it was inside the car, ill have to have someone turn it on while i listen to the tank, but im def going to take the filter out and blow it out, see if thats the problem, i know it was the same way on my friends car, it was sitting for a bit and all it needed was to have the filter cleaned/changed and it ran again.

alright, i took the filter out and blew it out with an air gun and a whole cloud of brown soot came out but when i put it back on the car i left one hose off and no gas came out, so the pump in the tank must be bad, im going to drop it

Don't reuse the filter. If blew on it too hard could have tore it inside or loosen up stuff in it. Your injectors will catch it next. They are approx 40 to 60 bucks each. Ouch. Other than that I would check the pump in tank. Has a sock on it may need cleaned but if had that much go thru it. Pump is probably damage anyway so replace it all. May want to borrow or buy a fuel pressure gauge. Some autoparts loan special tools unsure if this is one. I bought one seems like me not to expensive. 38psi with vacumn line off regualator on fuel rail. If replacing pump get a 255 HP/HV pump. If doing upgrade in future one you need.
