Default brake proportioning valve.

Mine is leaking really bad and i cant find them at any autozone/napa and ford doesnt make them anymore. Am i going to have to go to a junkyard and hope i can find one that works?

More likely then not yes, unless you can find something similar online.

not sure but I think rockauto.com has them...

i just ended up buying the ford racing proportioning valve, but i cant get the old one off. do you have any idea if im supposed to use a special tool or of a website that will walk me through it

Hi,

Did you get a Combination Valve or just a Proportioning Valve? The proportioning valve is mainly used for all wheel disc brakes, where as the combination valve is for front disc and rear drum setups (combination valves have a metering valve too as one unit).

Either way, i would use PB blast on the ends of the brake lines by the valve and make sure your using flare wrench to take the lines off.

well this is going to sound dumb but whats a flare wrench? and i got the proportioning valve

Hi,

No, that question doesnt sound dumb at all.

A flare wrench is a wrench that stops you from rounding off the fittings via using a regular wrench. There cheap and are available at all good autoparts stores.

Heres an example -
