Ah! Man alive! That Dart is a beauty! Phew! Words just cannot come close to explaining it! You could have left that last part out about selling it, that just crushed me. lol I guess you have to do what you have to do, but I would just be kicking myself after all that hard work. Ugh! Don't get me wrong, your stang is turning out fantastic, but it will probably never compare to that.

Here is mine and my dad's other project. Not doing anything too fancy, just trying to get her back into original shape.

BTW, I will hold off on the computer. I think I will either put that money towards something more pertinant to where I am on the rebuild, or find something at the local JY. I think I am getting on some good terms with this guy and we will see if he's got anything. Thanks though. Oh and if you ever feel so inclined to post any more pics of your Thunderstang, Dart, or any other current or past projects. Please, please do NOT hesitate to do so!

Definitely check up on craigslist in your area, and scavenge the junk yards. I got an LA3 and 4 injectors from a local guy for $40! And no need to go out and buy a CAI for these cars. I am going to ASSume the fender on your car is similar to the one on my SVO. You can simply run a pipe through the fender and mount it anywhere in there you feel like. I managed to get the VAM mounted in there too, and even used holes that were already in the fender, so that I didn't have to drill any holes in the car

Kinda tough to see, but you get the idea...

Dude, awesome Poncho! It's just beggin' to be bagged and dropped into the weeds! Slap some period correct mags/chrome reverse steelies/whatever on it and you're golden! Check out www.jalopyjournal.com
It's mostly early rods but there's a lot of 60's customs on there. May give you some ideas!

TRBOPWR has the right idea. Make your own CAI! Here's a write-up I did when I installed the CAI on my '86 TC. It's pretty much the exact same engine bay as your Mustang and if you follow the instructions, it'll work for you............................................... ....
Fox body CAI install

Hey!

Nice pictures of the vehicles! Way to make me jealous, lol.

Evintho - What made you want to sell that Dart? Did you like the Mustang more?
TRBOPWR - Nice engine bay shot there! Looks good
7-Zero - Did you figure out if your going to change the cam or anything yet?

Have a good day all!

I sold the Dart on Labor Day 2004. I drove and showed it for about 2 years. It was a blast to drive and car shows are nice, but they get old. Gas prices were just starting to climb and the Dart mpg was around 8! Don't get me wrong, I enjoy driving my cars but I get more pleasure out of building them. I was looking for a good commute car and the Mustang came along. I drove it for 2 years and then decided I was due for a project. The rest is history! Once I finish Thunderstang, I'll drive the heck out of it but I'm already looking ahead to the next project. Picture this.....................'27 Model 'T' roadster, all steel w/turtledeck, track nose, channeled and powered by a built 2.3 Turbo/T-5 combo with a Holset! May even have to mount a parachute on the turtledeck!

Hey hey, be careful there! Lol it's a tender subject. I would love to spruce it up a bit, nothing extreme, but at least something to bring more 'sport' to it. But it is my dad's car, and it was his dad's car before that so he wants it to be mostly original. Sentimental reasoning I guess.

At this point in time, the only change I will be doing is a roller conversion with a Ranger cam. Maybe at a later date when I am ready for some more umph I might go with something more extreme.

I am finding it quite odd to send CAI through the fender. Is there really enough airflow through the fender well? It seems like it would be more logical to put the intake more front and center sort of speak.

Lol, evintho, that does sound like quite a project! You will have a hard time keeping that thing on the ground, slap some wings on it and you will have a whole new reason for the parachute.

Hi,

If you do route the CAI through the fender, just becareful of driving in the rain or through puddles as you could hydrolock the engine. When i was thinking of putting a CAI on my 02 Sentra, there was a part you could install into the CAI plumbing to stop water from been sucked into the engine.

It is a logical place to put the CAI there as the air is colder then if you used a WAI/Short Ram intake and had all the engine bay heat been sucked up....if that makes sense.

Im sure theres a better technical term for 'sucked up' but im pretty beat right now and my Electrical Diagnosis class is frying my brain lol.

Many, many people have run the CAI into the fenderwell without issue. It's a fairly common mod. I drive my TC daily with this mod, rain or shine, and have never had a problem. The air filter is protected. You can't tell from this pic because I hadn't installed the inner fender panel as of yet. If you can't tell, I stuck my head inside the fender and took this shot looking forward. Once the inner panel is installed, the air filter rests above and behind it. Very little moisture or road grime enters that area, yet there's still a significant opening for clean outside air and the ram air effect.

Mine is like the above, except the VAM is mounted in there too, and the filter hangs down further towards the front. It is a bit above and behind the foglight. No problems yet with water, although I did have that problem in my Sentra a couple of times...
