Wiring plugged into it. Unsure if wiring gets changed. Check Stinger site. No vacumn line to it. No hose or cap on it. Just plug the hose or remove hose and cap where hose comes off.

ok, I'll do that thursday and see what I come up with. Thanks man. I'm probably gonna have to go back through the whole harness again tho just to make sure nothings messed up.

Well dad says he went back through the harness twice and is convinced its right. we checked the tps and got 1.3x volts at closed and it increased with the throttle, but adjusting the tps didnt change the volts. Is that what needs to be around 1 volt at idle? because we cant get it there. I guess I'll get one tomorrow and try that, we also replaced the module on the distributer, and it runs better, but still breaks up when it starts to boost.

You want .9-.99 for the TPS at idle

we changed the tps and we got it sitting on about .955 now. we've checked the vam all that have the right voltage, the distributor, pip, and spout have proper voltage but the spouts not advancing timing. we've looked at some of those schematics and they're refering to a control module if the pip or spouts not got the right voltage, are they talking about the ecu or what? also It may be super rich and thats whats breakin it up I'll have an a/f gauge on it tomorrow and get back. There is also what looks like another spout thing on the firewall, does this need to be removed, moved or left alone? disconnecting it does nothing either.

After looking back over those schematics, it looks like the vam has lower voltage than they call for. It only had like 256mv when closed and then smoothly went up to 4.6v wide open. Is that ok or too low?

You have a bad wiring some where. You should have the tach reading right, SPOUT should work properly.

I would take the harness out and check EVERYTHING again, it sounding more and more like a wire came loose in a connector and isnt making a signal go through.

Do you have any vacuum leaks on the engine? bad gaskets? good computer? proper parts?

The engine was rebuilt after we pulled if from the tbird, I can't hear any vacuum leaks weve plugged and capped quite a few hoses. It's got all new gasgets, computer was running the car before we pulled it all out. We used all the parts off the bird. was that reading on the vam too low?

Chris, I had this issue that your describing when i first did the swap in my 87. I had no timing advance and it ran like crap, breaking up at 3k any gear. I had a friend whos good with wiring check over my work and it turns out i have the vam wired wrong. he changed the wires and did it even run good. ran properly for the first time. i have driven for about 2months during that time. I would check your vam wiring and vam itself, try using a known good one, although i find that theyre hard to come by locally. I paid 115 for one and 140 for another, from the same JY.
Edit: upon reading the rest of the thread, i assume your dad is good with the wiring aspect of this. SO i would defintley try another vam.

Well today I got an a/f guage on it and its rich at idle, in the 10.6 range, but when you give it throttle it leans out to around 16.xx and starts breaking up bad when it tries to boost. I don't have an adjustable fpr, but the psi is around 32 or so and 39 when you give it some gas. Using the factory tc regulator.
