Thanks for the article sleeper! I must have missed that one while searching through the tech articles! And also a thanks to evintho for the pics of what i will need out of the tc. Now, somewhere in this thread, there was a mention that the tc uses a hydraulic clutch. Can i find a way to reuse that system, or will the pedal assembly out of the tc also work with a cable?
Also, I have been researching the EEC-IV computer system that these fords use and have found some information about tuners and programming software. Something that caught my eye especially was the QuarterHorse and the EEC Editor sowtware found at: http://www.moates.net/index.php?cPath=73_63
Has anyone used this on their 2.3T? if so any info on how it worked, and if there was any noticeable difference would be nice too!

87-88 TC's had hydro, earlyer models had cable. Evintho's pictures show everything needed to swap over to the hydro. clutch

'87-'88 TC's used the hydraulic clutch setup. All other year TC's used a clutch cable. Your '88 TC pedals will NOT work with a cable. You can adapt your hydraulic setup to your Mustang. You may have to do a little trimming and fab work but it can easily be done. You may, however, opt to find a cable pedal assembly and bellhousing. From everything I've read it seems to be a much easier install and less maintenance also. Strip the complete hydraulic assembly from the TC and sell it in the forums. Use that money to purchase a cable clutch assembly. Here's a couple of threads from Turboford..................... http://www.turboford.net/ubb/ultimat...=051009#000009
Sweet! once again thanks for the input. I found a Garret T3 turbo on ebay. Claims it is the turbo that can be found on merkur's, svo's and tbird's from 83'-86' and it has a AR48. Would this be the turbo I would want to use if i wanted to upgrade from the stock IHI? if it is, he doesn't have a waste gate for it. How hard are those to come by?

Sounds like a 60/48 T3. Came stock on Merkur XR4ti's and, I think, the early SVO's. It has a slightly smaller turbine wheel than the 60/63's which means it produces boost at a lower rpm, which is good off the line. I've got a 60/48 on mine. I've seen people advertise for stock T3 wastegates in the 'wanted' section of Turboford. If someone has one laying around you may be able to grab it but most usually use the factory wastegate with their T3's. Unless the Ebay turbo is a stellar deal, you may want to hold out or a complete T3. They come up for sale all the time.
Is this the one? If you can get it for close to that price, it might be worth it!
yep, thats the one. i sent a message to the guy a little earlier today and am waiting to hear back from him to see how much he wants for it. So you say those show up pretty often on ebay? if thats the case, I'll probably hold off and wait till i find a complete turbo.

I know i still have a lot to learn about turbo's, but i was wondering something while I was looking through the T3's listed on ebay. Will most any Garrett T3 turbo that either a 60/48 or a 60/63 work on the 2.3? Or are there more specific things i need to look for in choosing a turbo? Is the area where the exhaust manifold bolts to the turbo pretty standard, or are there quite a few differences in that as well? I ordered corky's maximum boost off amazon the other day and it should be here soon. I hope it will have some useful info like this so i don't have to keep bugging you guys about the simple things lol.

i understand that, but lets say i found a turbo that came off a honda, or any other car that has a rectangular flange, would that match the 2.3 exhaust manifold?
