Default remove cat

I did a little searching and didn't really find what I'm looking for. How do these cars sound with the cat removed? I just want to make sure it's not going to sound like a lawn mower or something, haha.

it depends a lot on what6 kind of muffler you use, but because of the way the 2.3 is, its pretty hard to get it to sounds like a ricer. If you use the stock muffler w/o a cat it might be a little louder, but if you get rid of the cat, build a 2 1/4" exhaust and use a flowmaster 40 series muffler it sounds pretty good, loud but good. if turbod make it a 3" exhaust. I also hear running the 40 series backwards sounds interesting as well.

Thanks for the info. I'm not really trying to get it to sound like anything, I'm just trying to make sure it's not going to sound like total crap. I need to get rid of the one I have (I don't know that it's been replaced in the twenty year life span of the car). I want to just cut it out for now, instead of replacing it.

Has anyone done this and had bad results?? Thanks guys.

When I got new exhaust for mine, I just got some cheap muffler from partsource (lol) and skipped the cat. It was a bit louder, but sounded way better, it used to sound like diarrhea but after it had a more clear tone and was a bit bassier. Hard to describe, but sounded better and I had a bit more power.

Hey thanks milanorama. That's exactly the info I was hoping for. I think I'll go ahead and do that then.
