Default Need some advise

So i take my mustang to the shop to get the trans serviced. There was nothing wrong with the trans, it shifted great. I get a call today form the shop telling me that the trans is dead, and that i owe them 120 for the work they did.

I was like WTF i drive the car there and now i have to pull it home

any idea's as to what i can do? I guess my question is what would you do if you were in my position.

Hi,

What work did you have them do?

I would tell them you expect the vehicle to be in the same drivable condition when you pick it up as you drove it there.

They must have 'tampered' with your trans or trying to take you for a ride. Id be very suspicious if i were you.

No It was at east ridge auto alignment. in east ridge, tennessee

So i go to pick up the car today and OMFG was that one hell of an adventure. My friend and I go to get the car. I walk into the office and pay the bill, and they inform me that the transmission will pull the car, but it slips bad. I try to fight paying the bill, but get nowhere fast. They pull the car up and i notice the tire is off the rim. The mechanic gets out of my car and said that my tire is flat. I said, no it off the rim. This pisses me off. My friend goes into the office and demands that the tire gets fixed, so they bring an air hose out and the mechanic tries to fill the tire. After 10 mins hes tells me that it wont hold air. I was like no sh!t your going to have to jack the front end of the car up and re set the tire. Well he doesn't listen to me and proceeds to get another mechanic who tries to air it up, to no avail. So finally they listen to me and jack the front end up and re set the tire, and would you believe that the tire actually set back on the rim and held air! By this time im ready to kill someone. We get the car on the trailer and we drive back up the office and i ask the owner to right on my receipt that his mechanics drove on the rim. I wanted them to do this because if there was rim damage i wanted them to fix this. Well the owner refused to sign anything saying that he didnt see the rim so how does he know that i didnt do anything. so i call my dad (im 18 living at home) and he said that he wanted to talk to the owner. the owner refused to talk to him and wanted me to take the car off the trailer so he could "inspect" the rim. I said dont touch my car. You guys screw up my transmission, and drove the tire on the rim. I dont trust you. We argue some more, but nothing gets done. so now i have an f'ed up tranny and a f'ed up rim.

cliff notes:
take car to the shop and get f'ed in the a

It's businesses like these that made me venture into trying to do my own repair work. In fact I am still fighting with a body shop for a crappy repair job.

I don't know if it will do much good or not, but you can always file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau.

Also, there are a couple of TV stations around my area with investigative reporters, so when my brother was fighting an insurance company and getting nowhere, we mentioned that one of these stations were interested in looking into it. Don't know if they were seriously considering it or not, but it got the insurance companies attention.

Be sure to take lots of pictures and document everything...phone calls, conversations, names, dates, etc.

I filed a complaint with them as soon as i got my car home, so i am waiting to hear from them.

My goal for the car was to swap in a built 2.3T and a T-5. It now looks like i will be getting the T-5 sooner than i wanted to. speaking of a t-5 swap im guessing that all i need to do it is the trans, all the clutch stuff, clutch pedal, clutch cable, and a computer from a t-5 car. Is this all i need, or am i missing anything?

yeah, that is a bad deal there. I have one guy I go to when I am completely stumped about my car and dont want to deal with it. and I only go to him because he is an old family friend. with as many horror stories that you hear about this kind of stuff, i would cringe if I had to go to another shop.

I had a bad experience with a gas station a while ago. their tanks had some nasty stuff in there and it got into my car. had to drain the tank, put new gas in, replace the plugs, missed a couple days of work, and when i tried talking to the owner about it, he got all dickish and i got no where. I tried to do the investigative reporting thing, but that got no where either. It's a good idea to try, but it helps a lot if there are several complaints about the shop.

I hope you get some justice out of this whole deal! It sucks to be in that position. I hope you are one of the lucky few that will get some kind of resolution out of this.

Check on filing in small claims court. See if can get another trans shop say what happen to trans. Get there report. Ps good luck most likely the best way is to tell the truth and not expand the truth [Or he can sue you for deformation of charater] on it to all you freinds. Hurt him with where it hurts the most in the billfold. Look at his signs is he "approved" by some name brand company. If so report to them. Some company have certified mechanis. If he has them complain to them. Let his headaches from differant areas. The BBB company is you best bet first. Good luck Maurice
