Default 88 auto transmission problem

ok i just got myself a slight problem my automatic tranny wont shift gears and i was wondering what the problem would be and if i would need to get it rebuilt?

Check your fluid level. I had the same problem, turns out I had to add 4 liters of trans fluid lol

yeah i did that and the fluid was really black so i changed it and it still has that problem

Hi,

Is your check engine light on? You may have an issue with the shift solenoids possibly. You would need to do a drop test on them (after you find a wiring daigram) and go from there if you feel they are suspect.

If the fluid came out black then either you drained the oil in the engine or your clutch bands are bare
