Hey gang, I have a 1990 2.3L the car died on me,I had it towed home,,,it sat for 6 months til i had a chance to work on it,,,,,anyway I have it running ,buttttttttt, it will run as long as the key does NOT return to the run position,,,,any ideas? ignition switch???? I've heard something about a ballist resistor,,I don't know a thing about it,only that it could be the problem,,,,and if so , where would this resistor be located? Hey, any ideas appreciated,,,Thanks

It sounds like the ignition switch to me or an wiring issue by the key switch.
When you say its running until the key switch moves to the run positiion, is it running with the starter constantly engaged to the flwheel?, if so, you may damage the starter as well as put an excessive strain on the vehicles charging system.
