Use the brackets, PS pump and AC motor from the Mustang. It should all bolt up to the block. The rack, I'm not sure about. I'm more familiar with '87-'90 Mustangs.

Looks like everything will bolt up. The engine/tranny is now out and I plan to start on the engine bay and undercarriage this weekend. I may be in need of a hood with the ability to use the factory intercooler. Ideas?

And the new...

I was always under the impression it would fit under the stock hood. You could take of the brackets supporting it (the stiff hoses work fine) and tweak it some if it's close.

Looks really good! You may want to consider front mounting the I/C. It's fairly simple to do and increases the efficiency 10 fold!

While your at it, remote mount the TFI. It'll save headaches later down the road.

The FMIC is looking more appealing. On the TFI, is there an aftermarket bracket? Something else I was wondering, the sway bar on the Turbo Coupe is about twice the size as the Mustang's. The only thing I see defferent is the mounts are about an inch longer than the stangs (on the framerail) but it looks like the brackets will interchange.

I doubt there's an aftermarket bracket for the TFI but they're really easy to relocate. Here's a write-up I did when I relocated one on my TC. I did basically the same thing on Thunderstang too.

Remote TFI mounting

Several guys are running the TC front sway bar and so did I, in the beginning. However, the TC swaybar is a bit longer than the Mustang bar. I went to the junkyard and found a stock 5.0 swaybar and brackets for $15. It's the same width as the stock 4 cyl Mustang bar and it's actually a little thicker than the TC bar. The best of both worlds! I went with that 'cause I didn't want to mess with the geometry of the front suspension.

Hey evil, nice job on the build it's looking really good! I too like what you've done with the intake, it adds a nice touch. It'll be interesting to see how the Testors will hold up to the heat though.

Evintho, is the TFI overheating a common thing? I've never had a problem with it on my n/a (knock on wood), or is this a problem with the turbo setup?

Pretty common occurance on most late '80s Fords. I had the problem on my TC 2 weeks after I bought it. A lot of turbo guys get it because of all the heat generated in the engine compartment by the turbo. Search on any of the turbo boards and you'll find it. Some guys have driven for years without a problem, though. It boiled down to Ford placing the TFI on the distributor because it was cheaper. Probably 10 cents cheaper but multiply that by several million cars and it turns into big bucks. They lost in the end though. They probably paid out 10 times that in lawsuits.

For those who haven't had a problem YET, congratulations! I however, would recommend relocating the TFI. It's a simple procedure.
