2.3 Running like crap, need help with codes!
I recently picked up an 87 vert with a 2.3 that had been sitting in someones yard for like 7 years. Got it up and running but it has NO power, cranks for awhile before it starts, stumbles off idle, and will occasionally die while idling even though most of the time it runs nice and smooth at an idle.
I've replaced the gas tank and fuel pump with a spotlessly clean one that came out of a 95 3.8 V6 stang, new fuel filter, fuel injectors which came from a running 3.0 V6 (lists as the same injectors), new spark plugs, new timing belt, and changed the oil. I ran a compression test which read 120-130 on all cylinders, and it has a nice bright blue spark on all 4 plugs.
Last night I threw a snap-on scanner on the car to see whats up and one of the codes it listed was 83. The snap-on scanner says thats low speed fuel pump primary circuit, but everywhere else I look online says its High Electro Drive Fan circuit fault, EGR Control solenoid, 3.0L SHO - Low Speed Fuel Pump Relay circuit.
So, could an EGR problem really make it run THAT bad? What else can I be looking for here to figure out what the problem is?

I'll give it a try and see what happens... though I would think the damn thing should start without having to crank it over multiple times.
Actually kind of disappointed that there are over 80 views and only 1 reply. Is the 4 banger section always this bad?

true, it should not affect a cold startup until after the engine is pulling some sort of manifold vacuum.
i'd put a pressure gauge on the fuel rail and see if the pressure regulator is doing it's job too. pull the vacuum line on it and if theres any fuel in the vacuum line your regulator is shot.

i checked the local auto parts store and the only one they had was like 75 bucks or something, and harbor frieght only has a full fuel injection testing setup thats like 125 bucks.
time to buy one offline maybe?

Which 3.0 did you get the fuel injeciotrs from as the 3.0 DOHC injectors are different from the 3.0 EFI's. Also, same too with the fuel pumps. They flow different...
If the EGR is stuck open, it will run very rough. Id also double check the timing belt to make sure the lines all line up correctly at TDC. Id also be refering to a vacuum gauge and a fuel pressure gauge to make sure i have the correct fuel pressure KOEO as well as KOER
