Default 93 foxbody 2.3 wiring help.

I bought a 93 foxbody convertible with a blown head on it for 400. The bodys in great shape an little to no rust anywhere. I work in a junk yard an ended up picking up a 87 2.3 block in great running condition, only problem is the fox is a dual plus right now an my motor is a distributor. I have both ecc's and harnesses along with both motors still. I have the 87 motor in the car but I can't seem to get the 93's wiring from the body to hook up to the 87's harness. Any idea's or help would be great. I'm trying to get her back on the road. i was told to repin the 8 plus ecc to work with the distributor but I don't know which wires to do that with if you know anything it would be greatly appreciated.

Also I have a 79 2.3 cobra block would the pistons rods, an crank work in the 87 block? it's an old turbo 2.3 cobra that came into my work.

You got 2 choices. Change wiring and run distributor. Drill block for cranksensor and use some parts from the dual plug engine. Then you can delete one of the coil paks. If decide that I will search info. You will need to make a pattern for drill off the dual plug block. Drill the block, use the crank sensor and pulley. The ignition module will need mounted on a heat sink. The 8 plug intake will not fit the 4 plug. The wiring diagrams for both are here.
http://www.rothfam.com/svo/reference/
Just look the years of both and go from there. When know more just ask and will help if can.
Adding the cranksensor and coil pack is a mod some of the 2.3 turbo people do to get rid of distributor. Maurice

I would like to keep the distributor. The wiring is the the way I want to go because I already have the block installed and it was a pita getting it to match the tranny by myself. Now by changing wiring do you mean grabbing the body wiring from the 87 mustang and putting it in the 93 or re-wire the 93 to match the dizzy on the 87?

To rewire the 93 would be a pain. Would need to strip the 87 harness to harvest the distributor wiring.
I would think it would be easier to lay the 87 in and repin at the connection at the computer.
Now the 93 harness has the air bag wiring in the harness. You would need to open the loom and get that out. I am pretty sure it is separate to the engine harness, just in the same spit loom.
Only other thought is I assume yours is automatic, You might want to look and see how many wires go to the plug on trans 2 or 3. I know there are differences just unsure when the years all that changed.
Now I have never done this. So this is my warning. I have a 89 mustang and a 93 so I know each wiring. So I can't see why not. Maurice
Edit please look at the trans wiring. Wiring diagram show difference in that area. That may cause some problems.

two wires on my trans plug. the 87 harness I don't remember i pulled it back in September an just getting around to hooking it up. the 87 harness is hooked up but it doesn't hook up to the body harness.

it've been looking at the harness wiring and it seems that if i spliced
pip wire 1 on the tfi to #56 on 93 eec gray and yellow
sport wire 2 on the tfi to #36 pink on 93 eec pink
start/idm wire 3 on the tfi to #4 93 eec tan/yellow
hot wire 4 on the tfi to coil + red/light green on from coil plug in
tach wire 5 on the tfi to coil - dark green/yellow from coil plug in
ground wire 6 on tfi to #16 ign ground on 93 eec orange/red

but now the only this is finding where i have to wire the coil plug in.

This may help. This link is for putting a 2.3 turbo in a dual plug car. Now ignore the vam info and boost solinoid stuff. I think the ignition section may help. Maurice

I'm going to run a "hot wire" with fuseable link in between the coil and battery + wire an ground the negtive coil wire to the battery negative cable. then wire in the tfi to the 93 harness. that way it's easier to finish. because all the rest of the plus are interchangeable it would seem from the two harnesses.

When get it running do a tech write up. This subject come up fairly often. Sometimes because of lack of proper engine or someone wanting the late 8plug engine. I ams sure it would help. Maurice

Default Similar issue but 88 Vert Body with 93 2.3L engine

Ok, I have the 88 Vert Body, but have the 93 Engine and trans out of a 2.3 L convertible.

Got the fuel pump issue figured out, now my issue is when I turn the key to start the car, it fires right up, but when the key releases to the ON position the car dies.

I have the 93's engine harness with the 93 computer plugged into the 88 dash harness..

Any Ideas??? Your help is greatly appreciated....

Should I use a 93 Dash harness? A 93 body harneess? Ideas?
