87 4 cylinder mustang not getting fuel
Hey guys I'm new to this site and would like to thank all of you in advance for your help. My problem is with an 87 mustang 4 cylinder automatic car I am not getting fuel I thought it was the pump put one in as well as a new filter still doing the same thing the pump primes when I turn the key over so I got a new fuel pump relay same thing the car will burst and die. I can take a spray bottel with gas and spray it in the intake and it will stay running long as I keep spraying. I have replaced the fuel pressure regulator and the ignition switch also. I messed with the tps today and if you stick a screw driver in it and jiggle it back and fourth while you crank it it will almost start it just keeps trying and trying. I've hot wired the pump and everything. What could be my problem is it the tps. I'm stumped at this point. I'm thinking the tps or the computer. Any helpful answers will be greatly appreciated. Thanks for your time.

Welcome to the forum! I imagine that you probably did, but just to double check.....did you test your fuel pressure before and after replacing your pump?
I am no expert but I doubt that it is your TPS, if it were bad it would most likely lead to irregular idle and throttle response not a no start situation. However if it is triggering full throttle then that would shut off your injectors because it thinks it is flooding the engine. You can test it with a multimeter to see if it is working properly. Stinger Performance has a good write up on his site.

Thanks for your reply. I didn't check the fuel pressure before replacing the pump but I did afterwards. Pressure is good. I wouldn't think the tps would cause a no start situation either but don't really know what ealse to do, then again I see it like you mabey it is telling the computer it's flooded and not letting the injectors fire. I need to get a node light and see if my injectors are getting fire. Still stumped but I'll figure it out one way or the other.

What is fuel pressure 39psi with vac line off the regulator?
Have you pulled the codes?
Second tps can cause no fuel. Any person told me if the throttle is wide open it will shut the injectors off so if got a flooded car it clears it out. Maybe if tps says it is wide open maybe it can cause this.
There is a ground from intake to body is it there?
I would check pressure first and then codes and go from there. Maurice
