Hey guys, I have a 2.3l dual plug engine in my pony and the head is cracked. I'd like to source one from a local junk yard, but 2.3 mustangs and rangers are scarce so I'd like to know what specific years, makes and models I can pull a replacement off of.

There is a 2.3l ranger there that I pulled some other parts from, but the timing belt was shredded so that makes me concerned that a piston may have hit the head, or at least bent a rod or two. I could always get it and swap over the rods and springs from mine.

The 2.3L are non interference motors. Meaning the valves will never hit the pistons unless a stem breaks and actually drops down. The head with the shredded belt should be fine.

Fantastic!!! Say that engine is gone once I get up there, what are my other engine options.

Thunderbird TC, mercury merkur, mustang, ranger that I know of. Possibly a mercury topaz or Mazda 2300 truck.

I've seen where with some modification a Volvo B234F DOHC head being used on the 2.3l engines.
