Default Likely vacuum and tranny issues, novice mechanic needs help

Hello, I have a 1989 2.3l NA Mustang Lx with aod tranny, the car has idled at around 1100 rpm since got it in December of. 2013 , its been a great car, but I parked it for a few months and mice got to my vacuum Lines. I thought I had fixed them but car is still running rough, also I can't come to a complete stop in gear without the car dying, I have to rev up the tach to 14-1500 rpm, let off the gas and then punch it again to roll smoothly. Also my overdrive just went out not long ago and now some times when I put the car in gear, the tranny stalls and I have to shut the ignition off and then restart it and my remaining three forward gears work just fine. I love my Lil Pony, I want her well, I don't have much experience repairing my car but I don't trust any mechanic where I live, so I have no choice to fix it myself , also, does anyone know of free online downloadable repair guides or have vacuum diagrams? Thanks so much for reading this post, sincerely, Joshua
