The reason why the Z wieghs "so much" is because they designed the platform it's on to be compatible w/ other cars. The G35, Murano, etc are based on the same platform. It was never designed to be strictly put in a sportscar, and nothing else. It was designed to be used for different purposes for cost effectiveness. And I still don't understand why people think Z's are so heavy. A Base or Enthusiast model Z Coupe only weighs 3,200~ lbs. Not, 3,400, not 3,500; 3,200 give or take some. The ONLY Z's that weigh 3,400 lbs are Roadsters and fully loaded up auto Coupes. IMO, I think Nissan did that w/ the Z platform because they didn't think it'd be as successful as it is, and they were afraid to lose money. Hopefully, the next gen Z will get it's own specific chassis and a lighter weight. It'd be nice to see a 2,900-3,000lb Z w/ the new VR37HR andaround 350hp. Only time will tell, though.[&:]

Because it's 19 inches shorter in length, 2.5 inches shorter in height and 2.5 inches shorter in width than a s197. Not to mention it has a smaller engine (lighter) and no back seat. Judging by the curb weight of each it would seem heavy in comparison. Sorry, but I will believe nissan before you, no offense.
