I have never replaced a cam before so I need some tips on how to change the cam and install the timing chain 4* advanced. i have an adjustable timing chain so I can advance the cam. My question is how just line up the cam sprocket to the key on the crank sprocket that says 4+

RE: Cam and Timing Chain Install Question
Well I installed the cam, timing chain, heads, lifters, pushrods, 1.7 cobra roller rockers.
What I did was turn the crank sprocket to A4 and didnt turn the cam sproket at all and put it in on the crank and cam. I didnt advance the cam now did I??? Because I put the crank sprocket in the keyway at 0 so it didnt turn the cam at all to advance or retard the cam. Did I do this right or wrong

RE: Cam and Timing Chain Install Question
If you used the 4A keyway, you used the advanced 4 degrees. The following pic will show you the position of the crankshaft in the different advance positions and 0, the one used for the install is the 4A......(you actually retard the crankshaft to advance the cam)
