Default Basics of auxiliary fuse box

Does anyone on here know where I can find a good reference (online preferebly) that could teach me some basics about wiring fuse blocks and relays and all that? I've followed a few schematics (such as JamesW's headlight relay mod), and while it is functional, it leaves my bay looking like a rat's nest.

I could hide it all under the metal, but I'm not looking for that exactly. While scrounging the web, I came across this site which is unrelated to Mustangs, but I think it could be applied and would look pretty clean.

Problem is, I don't really know the basics - is there just one wire that goes from the +post of the battery to the fuse block? Also, am I going to have any problems with the battery draining? I plan on redoing the wiring one day (don't we all...) but for now, I'm just looking for a good, safe, reliable wiring fix.

Thanks in advance

edit:

Guess I left off a couple things: As the link shows above, I would like to incorporate the relays into it; I think it will help trememdously with the aesthetics. I plan on running a moderately powerful CD/MP3 player, electric fan, and so on...
