351C into Foxbody
Ive searched this and mainly all Ive found is people saying how to build a Cleveland. That is not what Im looking for. Im wanting to find people that have done this swap before. The engine will run a carb of course and the car its going into is a 90 LX. Anyone out there done this? If you have please speak up. I know that a T5 isnt going to last with a Cleveland (they dont last with 302s), the 302 motor mounts will work, that Im playing with fire using an 8.8, and that Ill obviously need new headers/X-pipe. Is a 351C going to bend the car up? Ive heard alot of rumors that it will. Ill be running subframe connectors. I am not putting 302s or 351Ws out of the question either so if you have a different idea let me know. Ive heard alot of "youll need this first" or "youllneed that before you do anything" so I listed my mods that will transfer over. Thanks

RE: 351C into Foxbody
Did one back in the early 90's. Then Kaufmann Products made a swap kit. They don't anymore. It wasn't a hard swap with the parts. Expensive is what it was. If you do it now. $700 for a set of headers unless you can find someone who will fab them for you. The oil pan will have to be fabbed as well. The 8.8 will live with no issues as long as you upgrade it. We ran into weight issues on the front end.The spring rates and shocks we used wereclose to what was needed forthebig block swap. We ran a C4 with ours. The T-5 wouldn't last at all. One thing you wil want to check is to see if the pilot bearing is the same as a 302. If not you may have to find one that will work with a T5 or Tremec if you go with a manual trans.

Thanks for the reply. I know a guy that actually builds headers for 351C foxbodys. He has done the swap quite a few times and says that its easy but I just wanted to see what everyone else thought. Did your car hook up ok? My 68 has a Cleveland and it hooks up great ( its a leaf spring car of course)

RE: 351C into Foxbody
I am also droping a 351C into a fox body. 89 lx 4 banger. I have the motor and a rebuilt c4 tranny. I just pulled the 2.3 out of the car and getting ready to drop the 351C in. I know i need to buy a tubular k-member, do i get one that is built for the 302? or does anyone know a site that has the suspension parts i need? I will be running a ford 9" rearend with 4.11 gears. Im going to start plating the engine bay sometime this week.

RE: 351C into Foxbody
You get the K-member for the 302. You don't have to buy a tubular. The 4 cyl K-member will work. You can check with QA1, UPR, D&D, or any of the suspension companies. Why are you swapping in the 9 in. A 8.8 is strong enough to go into the 8's.
