Default E303 cam in stock motor

Itook my car to a mechanic friend to find out if the car has a cam or not. He suggested the same method as someone suggested here of seeing how much the pushrod actually lifts and comparing it to the lift specs of the stock cam. After pulling the valve cover and removing one of the rockers the guy I bought that car called and said he got in touch with his engine builder and said that the engine was rebuilt to stock specs except for the addition of a Ford Racing E 303 cam. My question is does this cam actually help on a stock engine? If not what does it hurt? I have always heard that the E cam is not even worth itwhen upgrading the top end, but was wondering if it made any difference on a stock motor.

The idle sounds rough, but not crazy. If you didn't know what you were hearing it would sound like it's running ****ty. You can definitely hear it though.

At a minimum the stock valve springs should be upgraded for the cam.

ORIGINAL: PJC Racing

At a minimum the stock valve springs should be upgraded for the cam.
you can rent a air compressor and use it with an attachment thats screws into your spark plug hole to hold your valves up as you remove the springs(heads on car, valve covers off).

Or you can bring the cyl to tdc and stuff nylon rope in there(takes a lil longer).

its not really going to help you all that much in the hp department....I don't think it is really going to hurt anything though

well most cams that you put in there are going to make it sound like that, my tfs1 cam does the same thing (with my heads and intake)

I would just leave it, they are decent enough cams and if you are planning on swapping everythinng anyways, it saves you a bit of work

But its up to you

I planned on leaving it anyway. As soon as it warm enough the car is going to see a substantial power increase wether its H/C/I or Nitrous it will be a 12 second 5 sp fox.
