almost got killed.. need help
my b&m pro ratchet shifter was finally installed yeterday by a racing performance center, and my car is an AOD 91 lx, anyways after goin through the gears i went to shift into overdrive it didnt "lock out" and it went into reverse at 55 mph which spun me into a corn field"which was pretty fun", but my question is ,was this shifter not installed right? or does this shifter not have a lock out feature, im sure it would have to cause what if i was at the track , could of been really dangerous[&:]

I have a B&M Hammer shifter and it has a lock out so you don't go into reverse. On mine, you just bump itfrom 1 to D to OD and it will bump to N, but then it will stop until you lift the flat lever on the shifter and then you can go into reverse. You said you have the B&M Pro... I don't know if they're different models or if you have the same thing I do. Either way, I'd think it would have a stop... and I can't see how installing it wrong could remove the stop feature. Maybe it'sdefective or you were holding the flat lever up when you were shifting.

As far as I know all shifters have a lock out for reverse. It's a safety feature. My guess was operator error. I think you shoulda taken a lil time to get to know it's function before hammering it. JMO though.

in luck we did not flip a million times and the car was ok, the tranny is still acting fine but it could of been a huge mess , the lock out feature is not working, to get it into overdriove u have to lift up on the lever, which to me is a death trap
