loud squealing coming from flywheel/bellhousing area
i have a 1990 lx 5.0 5 speed that i just put a complete 1998 5.0 explorer engine into which i had to install a pilot bearing into as it didnt have one (being an automatic). i get this loud squealing sound when it warms up and when i shut it off sometimesit makes this really loud strange noise after the engine is off. i have had the transmission out twice and have replaced the pilot bearing and put the engine block plate onwhich i forgot to put on when i built it. any ideas on what this squealing noise might be and what to do to fix please tell me as this is very annoying to drive around with. thanks, dylan

My first guess is throw out bearing, second guess is wrong pilot bearing for the shaft or bent shaft, third and final.... clutch installed backward....... I would replace both pilot and throwout bearing and inspect the shaft and make sure the clutch/ flywheelis good and not any hot spots or gouges.
