So I've sadly realized that the paint on the front edge of the hood on my '06 is bubbling, and I'm gonna have to get that repainted or whatever (which sucks, because I wanted to keep a high-impact area for rocks like the hood in factory paint, but what do you do.)

Anyway, I'm gonna go roll by Ford tomorrow and talk to the bodyshop guy, and I was wondering if any of you have a link to the TSB for the hood paint bubbling. Bodyshop guy will probably know what I'm referring to, but I'd like to have a printout with me just in case he hasn't seen any instances of this before.

I checked through the TSBs listed in the S197 FAQ quickly, but I didn't see it in there.

I've got the same problem and been to 2 dealers who refuse to fix it until the bubble "cracks open". They take all kinds of pictures and send them off to Ford, and then calls you back a day later to tell you they will do nothing. It's a major pain in the a** for me.

If your dealer won't fix it, try going to another dealership.

I had the same problem about 2 months ago. Took it to the dealer body shop and they fixed it. Not sure if they did it according the TSB insiructions though. At one point they actually told me they would replace the hood but then they changed their mind for some reason. I documented it all with Ford in case it happens again I will argue for a new hood. So far no re-occurrence. Good luck. btw - The thing about not fixing it until the blister bursts is BS.

i found a few really small bubbles on the inside of my 08 hood!!! (the 08s are supposed to NOT have this happen)

i'm taking it in later this week.

I've noticed some raised areas or bubbles under the lip of the hood just to the right of center. Do they repaint the whole hood inside and out or just that area? If they are painting the whole thing, I may wait awhile.

From what I understand, the TSB is not only for Mustangs, but for many other Ford vehicles.

I have the same issue on the front lip of the hood just left of center. I'm out of warranty and my service manager recommended a place to have it done at the dealer's expense. Didn't know about the TSB at the time.
