I have a 85 GT convertable and i was wondering what the best things to do to lighten my car? Without spending to much money. Also what are the best things to do if money was not a problem. THANKS

Depending on what your plans are with the car and how much "drivability" you're willing to lose...
Remove A/C and SMOG equipment
Remove Power Steering
Remove rear seat
Remove Spare tire & jack
Get a lightweight battery AND move it to the back... Odyssey makes a 25lbs battery thats rated for every day driving/starting duty... I'm told that they're pretty nice...
Spending a little more money you could go with a fiberglass hood, and spending even more money you could step up to aluminum heads...
All this together I'm willing to bet would set you back 150lbs or more, mostly removed from the front of the car, where you need it most.

fiberglass the whole body, remove the spare tire and jack, and also gut out the interior then you'll loose some weight lol.

It depends what you are using the car for and how into you want to go....
Fiberglass Hood
Fiberglass Hatch w/ Lexan Hatch Window
Remove tar junk from interior (under the carpet)
Aluminum Heads
Eliminate PS
Eliminate AC
Spare Tire & Jack
Rear Seat Delete
Battery Relocation (not shedding weight but transferring it)
Fiberglass Fenders
Tubular K Member
Tubular A Arms
Disk Brakes
Supposvdly, with D&D's front end kit (k member, a arms, coil over and drag brakes) you can loose up to 140lbs with that alone. Now do all the other things and you have a 2,XXXlb car!
Actually having the drums in the back will take off .2 seconds, the same amount of time the 1/4 mile that removing 100 lbs of excess weight and you could prolly get another .2 seconds if the front has drums as well
