But guys, the best way to drop weight is obviously to take a holesaw and cut off everything you don't need! There's a lot of unnecessary stuff you know.. stuff like subframes, k members, core supports, heck while we're at it why not control arms, driveshafts, maybe a cylinder head or two. Heck, make it three. I'll run 9's thanks to my holesaw!
i hear and understand what you are saying about the p/w ratio but i disagree with it in practice. my 06 has a p/w ratio of .085 which should be deep into the 12s many many people struggle to get into the high twelves in stock form. me included. but i will use the weight reduction tips on my 92 though. i need it for autox.

get rid of all the wiring you dont really need, underhood light, washer fluid resevoir and washer pumpwiring, door ajar switches and wiring, interior dome lamp wiring, fog light wiring if you dont have them (all mustangs arewired for them, )any plugs that dont go to anything, out it goes, take the whole circuit out. if you get everything out, it adds up to more than you would think, not to mention less wires is always better. putt hood pins in to get rid of the latch, im trying to think of more...
