If you know any salvage yard parts that will increase performance for the 5.0L mustang tell about them here.
1982-'83 Lincoln Continental, Ford Thunderbird Turbo Coupe, 1987-'88 Lincoln Mark VII LSC, or SVO Mustang can be used for rear disk brakes on the mustang.
I know the Ford Explorer GT40 intake & GT40P heads offer quite a few hp, but I am unsure the year(s) they came on the Explorer.
The 91 & below year mustang starters can be replaced with the ligher more efficient units on 92+ mustangs.

well if you want to get real technical the v8 t5 can't handle that much torque, that is why they make trannies like the TKO,,, And further more i am a Ford tech specialising in drivetrain. they can handle the same amount of torque because they are the same tranny. different gear ratios for 1 and 2, and a smaller input end for the pilot bearing are as far as the changes go.

Well, since you are a Ford tech specializing in drivetrain, can you supply us with more junkyard performance information that has to do with this thread?
& BTW thanks contributing the info everyone, keep the information coming.

That's funny, I know somebody, not on the internet, but in real life, who is an ASE certified mechanic who specializes in transmissions and he tells me they are different, strange, and I have known of personally, people who have tried putting in the T5's from the 4 bangers with pretty bad results.
The stock T5 is rated at 300lbs of torque, which is the stock amount of torque from the V8 Mustang. Tremec makes their transmissions to handle MORE than that if your Mustang is highly modified.
I don't remember exactly what he told me, but I think the gears are about the same strength but the input shaft is harder on the V8 transmissions, or something like that. I'm not the expert like you claim to be, but it's pretty easy to claim to be anything you want on the internet, I'll stick with the T-5 off the 1993 Cobra for my conversion...
All I have to say is, if you want a T-5 off a 4-banger, do it at your own risk, I know a place that sells cheap T-5's and it's because they are taking them off the 4-bangers and a lot of people are having problems with them. Who knows, perhaps this person is making them worse before selling it? Or maybe they are just like that...
i never claimed to be an expert, i am just talking from the experience of rebuilding ****loads of both. The 4 banger tranny that was recently installed into my 5.0 is operating smoothly, i had toput in a 1st gear blocking ring($12.00 part) after i bought it from the salvage yard, but not before i installed it. I tore it down to check it out first.
Can't really think of any other good boneyard parts, well maybe that convertables are a good source form frame supports
