AFR, TF, Canfield... You won't go wrong.

I have Canfield 195, but this was based on the package put together by Jay Allen at Camshaft Innovations when I got my stroker kit built.

ORIGINAL: Joel5.0That is my point...... you can't take it literally, because all else is NOT equal....... or optimized to the setup..... you cannot set an engine combo, and just change one item to conclude that item is at fault..... or that it performs worse based on those results....... if the "supporting cast" is not compatible with the change, it is wrong to conclude that the part in the "variable" role is the one at fault...... it's the combo what is important.

Budget can limit selection, but if those limitations extend over the obvious..... (ie. not do a valve springs upgrade for a cam upgrade)..... it becomes an exercise in oxymora....as an example.

Joel,

You are taking what I said out of context. I often see many people getting slammed for having GT-40 heads, a used trickflow stage 1 camshaft, and a home ported intake.

Sometimes, that is all people want to put forth towards their ride, or better yet, that is all they can afford for that particular project.

The one thing that may remain constant is, the guy that traps 105 mph and the guy that traps 110 mph are 100% happy.

It is the same deal with custom camshafts. Not all custom camshafts are tailored for maximum performance. So bare with me here...

One could have the same suspension, tricks, top-end pieces, weight, driver skill, track conditions, and one may run 107 mph and one may run 111 mph.

The only difference is the grind of the camshaft, by the same cam grinder.

One may have asked for all out performance down the 1320 foot mark, and the other may have asked for 18" of vacuum, pass emissions, smooth idle, driveability is key, etc.

Could he be leaving power potential on the kitchen table? Yes, of course, but they are BOTH 100% satisfied with what they wanted.

my77stang - It is amazing what a couple people can do...

boucherb - I agree 100 percent.

bouchermb, did you ever have your 347 without a supercharger? If so did you ever do a dyno run for h/p or even a 1/4 time.

What I failed to leave out in mybio was that my neighbor has a 2007 shelby stang. I know that the 07 shelby and the fox body conv. are about the same weight. Therefore I want to spank his $35,000 ass with a $10,000 fox body. Even if he does put a supercharger on.

The 347 combo I am going to having put together will be built for nitrous only, no supercharger.

I didn't. I had the supercharger on my car before I did the engine swap and had the 347 put together. I'm actually going to the dyno at 2:30 this afternoon to tune it in, but was told by the engine shop that put together my engine that I shouldn't expect optimal HP until the rtings seat, which takes 8-10 pulls.

I'll post my numbers when I get back, but am told I should be in the high 400's.

If you have experience with a given head, give your input. If you do NOT have experience with a head, and your information on them is purely 3rd party heresy, then please, keep that information to yourself, because it's not FACTUAL.

I feel every person on this site gives their input due to their mistakes and what they have learned ..myself I have been driving and racing Fords since 1978....I still learn from 3RD PARTIES.........we are here to ask and learn...and not to use up so much space...

UPDATE!!!

The wife forgot all about the new vehicle. The even better news is that I got the raise at work that I was expecting. I have to take a month off from work and then the whole family is going on vacation for a week. So I am going to put the money down on the engine in early march. I have already ordered the alum driveshaft(ford), Demon trans and the torque converter(2800-3200 stall). Next will come the gears(3.73) and the injectors(30lbs) and intake(systemax 2). Lets just hopethat the wifedosent get too mad.[sm=gears.gif]

My buddy mike tried talking me into those heads for 2 years. I grabbed them when I was going to be building my 302, but they ended up going on my 347. The only reason they went on is because I wanted to get the car running and see what it woud make. I do plan on buying different heads down the road.

If I make good numbers, I make good numbers... The real issue with RHS heads is that not many people own them, and nobody knows really what they are capable of. Unlike the tried and true GT-40's!

My engine builder, and my tuner are both telling me to expect 375-400rwhp, but im a very conservative person, so I say in the 350 range. (barring any problems like ****ty springs)
