Default Ignition for EFI to Carb conversion

Has anyone out there done the carb conversionusing a Duraspark dizzy (from an 85 or older)and a GM style 4-pin module?. I did this on my 300 six in my truck, and it seems to work great. It cost me less than$100 for a rebuilt Duraspark dizzy and a stock GM module. I'm thinking about doing this in my 89 hatch (I don't have the funds for an MSD right now, and the Ford ignition box is not near as reliable), using an after market performane 4-pin GM style module (like Accel, Mallory or Pertronix). I don't know how it will work performance wise?
Thanks

you can do one better an eliminate all the ford stoff and just use the gm hei ignition set up with the coil on top of the dizzy deal..works well..you'll just need a simple wiring diagram which I don't have anymore[:@]....but heck I just use the ford set up and I bought it all at autozone for under a 100.00 and the duraspark box worked for over 3 years flawlessly on my low 12 sec 85 gt I only removed it to upgrade..in fact I plan to ressurect the set up soon for my 84 bronco II v-8 swap...heck the autozone set up was more reliable than my ford motorsport discontinued duraspark set up that was built by msd for ford motorsport...that tells you how old it was!! been ford racing for years now

Thanks for the reply. I do have a 1 wire HEI dizzy on my 86 F150, with a 351W. For the wiring, I just took my test light, and found a "key on" hot wire going into the old distributor mounted ignition module, and hooked that wire up to the HEI. It's been running for 2 years andworks great, I just don't like how big/tall it is. I had to use a 1" carb spacer, and a 2" air cleaner spacer to clear the 14" air cleaner. I could always run a 10" or 11" air cleaner?.
